In this video of a diy fuel injector tester on a budget. I used scrap wood and steal for the frame. The fuel rail is from an old Lincoln Mark VIII intake manifold. I used an old broken 5.4 intake manifold for the fuel bungs. Just cut out the part I needed. I used a pickle jar for the fuel storage, and found some glass cylinders at a local thrift store. I did use some an fittings with this, but can easily be done with just hose and hose clamps. For the controller and plugs I bought basic ones on amazon. Link for controller and plugs. For the test liquid I used mineral spirits. It has a low flash point so makes it safer to use than gasoline. It worked great for what I needed. Please checkout the diy fuel injector tester video for all the details and to see it in action. I feel like this is a good project if you have spare parts laying around like fuel rails and intake manifolds. Also if you have the spare time, as this took a good chunk of time to build. So just depends, but one thing that is nice is since I built it I know how to fix it and source any parts I need if there is a problem. That might not be the case with a prebuilt unit. I’m also able to test fuel pumps, and fuel regulators, as well as the fuel injectors. Maybe with an update to the controller so I can do four fuel injectors at once it will be even better in the future.
